Funky Named Food Week: Fart Cookies
I need a little humor after the weekend. When others warned me about how hard it would be to go through a site overhaul, they weren’t kidding.
This week is the start of our “funky” and probably inappropriately named food week. You’re going to love it. Mostly because the recipe names sound funny but taste so darn good. We’re starting off the week with one of our family favorites. And one that the neighbors ask for the recipe for because their kids go home and ask for it.
This little cookie has long been misappropriately named. Often called the ‘no-bake’ cookie, or other similar names. But in our house, we have renamed it…the fart cookie. It’s now the popular favorite cookie request from our children, and they love their cookie.
Why the fart cookie? The combination of oatmeal, peanut butter and cocoa when combined together forms a unique and rather distinct combination in the stomach which by morning causes an orchestra of noises at the breakfast table. Don’t get me wrong. This cookie is delicious! And our family does recommend you try it….
Fart Cookie aka “No Bake” Cookie
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 tbsp cocoa
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup peanut butter
3 cups oatmeal
Bring to a boil sugar, margarine, milk and cocoa. Boil for one minute. Remove from heat and add peanut butter, vanilla, and oatmeal until well blended. Spoon onto waxed paper and let set until cool.
