Whirlwinds and Buckets

June 24, 2011

This week has been a whirlwind for our family. A baby in the ICU and my husband and I running back and forth to the hospital for feedings, visits with doctors, occupational therapists, lactation specialists and other personnel coming in and out. I’m up throughout the night trying to make sure there are feedings available for the baby, and running milk to the hospital.

We are exhausted to say the least. Recovery? That’s funny!

It’s like I came home from the hospital and life went back to it’s normal crazy schedule. Kids are running to and from friends houses’. Soccer, basketball, and dance camps they need rides to. Mom they are demanding time and attention from. Questions like, “Do you love the baby more than me? You are ALWAYS down there seeing her and not us!”

I wish that I could be everywhere for everyone. So yesterday, I sent the husband to the afternoon feeding at the hospital, and I told the kids that they could pick something from their bucket list. We left an went up to Classic Waterpark in Sandy–right by the Rio Tinto Real Salt Lake Stadium. For $7 a person, you can’t beat the price. While it’s more enjoyable for kids up to 10 years old, I love that I could sit on the sideline and watch and relax for awhile. I couldn’t go in the water anyway.

If you haven’t had a chance to go, I suggest it. I’m so glad for the time that we were able to spend together. I know that it helped the kids a lot.
