Kid’s Summer Bucket List

June 6, 2011

This year the kids and I have decided to make a summer bucket list. Things to do, and places to see. A lot of things will be short activities since I’ll probably have a baby in tow. But others will be adventures that we haven’t participated in before. Camping in the backyard, barbeque’s up the canyon, and attending the summer movie concert series.

To cut down costs, I often use the coupons from our summer reading programs or that come in our home mailers. A lot of times you can find coupons online too or in your Entertainment book. Right now they’re offering a deal that if you reserve your 2012 book, you get your 2011 book free. We’ve easily recouped the cost of the book each year after just a couple of activities.

As for bucket list ideas? Go local. We’re looking into attending a lawnmower race (thanks to Hannah Montana the Movie). Pool days, trips to the park, movies, camping in the backyard or some of these great ideas from Little Wonders’ Days. I love how she grouped longer and shorter activities. Anything under two hours was listed in one color, day or half day trips in another color, and longer trips in another color. Depending on the day or week, the kids could choose different colored activities.

And for ideas for what to put your bucket list into? Try this great printout that includes bucket list cards in different colors from Positively Splendid. I love it! She even had some cards laminated so they could use them year after year!

We’re working on our bucket list tonight while camping in the backyard! What ideas will you put in your bucket list??
