Win Two Tickets to The Taste of Home Cooking Show!

March 28, 2011

I can remember being a newlywed with my first daughter on the way. Already into my short cooking career, I had given myself and my husband food poisoning at least twice by that point and time. Not to mention the amount of recipes that I had burnt to a crisp in an attempt to not give my husband and myself food poisoning again. By that point and time, I had acquired a taste for charcoal.

In her attempt to help me (and her son), my mother in law suggested that I attend a Taste of Home cooking school with her and my sister in law who was also newly married. She thought it might help me to see someone making a particular recipe and getting tips on how to cook. That maybe visual learning might help me more than trying to blindly follow a recipe.  And I wasn’t too excited, but I went.

Going in, I didn’t think there would be much to get excited about. Except they handed me a big bag of coupons. COUPONS!!! Even back then I loved spending and saving money. Mostly spending, but saving money as a newlywed was thrilling too. Now I’m a super saver. I overlooked the recipes and other stuff that were in there. As we sat down in the auditorium I was immediately sucked in by how much fun it was to learn to cook. A little, (and I do mean little) spark ignited in me and as I watched and later practiced some of the techniques at home I learned at the Taste of Home Cooking School. Cooking began to make sense!!

Ten years later I can say that cooking is easier than it used to be (with much less cases of food poisoning and burnt food). And I can also say that ten years later the Taste of Home Cooking School has also grown to include boutique shopping, bigger giveaways and more!

In celebration, I’m giving away two tickets to the Taste of Home Cooking School on April 19th at the Provo Marriott. Boutique shopping opens at 3pm with the show going from 7-9pm that includes demonstration on making easy meals on a budget. There are a ton (TON!!) of prizes and everyone who attends receives a goody bag filled with samples, coupons, magazines and more.

The giveaway ends April 4th, so hurry and enter by leaving a comment below and one food you have “burnt” or would like to learn to make. (For ideas, see my list!!)

I am looking forward to going and hope to see you there!

If you want to purchase larger ticket quantities, here are several options:

**$10 Ticket is an entry ticket for the show, giveaways and the boutiques
**$20 Ticket is and entry ticket for the show, giveaways, boutiques and an all you can eat Soup and Salad Bar dinner at the Marriott before the show.

you mention food and free in the same paragraph and it gets my attention! 😉 Just yesterday I made a double batch of buttermilk syrup and didn’t put it in a big enough pot. It overflowed onto my glass-top stove “burnt” to a crisp, making the house smell quite lovely! I burn things all the time and make huge messes!
